Wag! Walkers know Water s Edge
Waters Edge is a vast planned community developed by ICI Homes as a family-oriented community in which everyone lives on the edge of at least one of the many lakes built here. Your next-door neighbor to the east is the Cypress Head Golf Club Community. To the west are vast areas of farm fields, adding to the "country" feel of the community despite the fact it is a planned suburb on the west side of I-95 and on the north side of Pioneer Trail.
Of course, you can't have all this peace and quiet without paying the price for it. In this case, the price is having to drive to any essential amenities you might need on a daily basis such as grocery stores, pet supply stores, gas stations, and great places for the whole family to go out and eat at. The good news is that these amenities are only ten minutes to the north where I-95 and Dunlawton Avenue intersect.
What is the terrain like in Water s Edge?
The community of Waters Edge is further divided into smaller neighborhoods with each one surrounding or next to at least one lake. In some cases, the houses have more than one lake for a neighbor, adding to the beauty of the neighborhood. Each of the various neighborhoods has plenty of sidewalks and grass berms for you and your dog to share, which is a good thing!
While traffic may not seem to be much of a problem for most of the day, both morning and evening rush hours are very busy with everyone rushing to and from their daily grind. Luckily, we're only talking about a couple of hours in the morning and evening, plus those hours when the school buses are coming through. The rest of the day, you and your pooch should be able to log as many miles as you can handle without too much in the way of traffic to deal with.
How many greenways are there in Water s Edge?
One of the great things about living in Waters Edge has to be the number of lakes and green areas built into it. No matter where you live in the community, there are walking paths the two of you can use to wander around on. If you want more space to hang out in, the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve is an option!
The preserve covers over 1,600 acres of dense woods and swampland. Inside the boundaries, there are miles of trails for the two of you to hike along. If you and your dog are up to it, you can make the six-mile round trip all the way to New Smyrna Beach and back! Along the way, there is a 15-foot high observation tower you can use to look out over the swamps. This is a very popular place for hikers and dog walkers, so you may want to keep your dog on a short leash for everyone's safety.
