While you can't say a river runs through it, the community of Willow Run is divided by a creek that runs through town to Spruce Creek. Willow Run is large residential area of town tucked in the corner of South Clyde Morris Boulevard and Willow Run Boulevard. What you will find here is a well-established area of cookie-cutter homes that were very popular during the eighties and nineties when so many millions were flocking to Florida every year.
The area is very well kept and offers easy access to South Clyde Morris which can be taken up into Daytona Beach or down to Dunlawton Avenue where you will find a wide range of grocery stores like Publix, a Walmart Supercenter, a Home Depot, and numerous other stores to shop at. From diapers to dog toys you can find everything you need along Dunlawton. This includes the best selection of restaurants in town for those times when you don't feel like cooking.
Willow Run is a large family community near two major roads. As you can imagine, during the morning and evening rush hours, traffic in both sections is likely to be bustling along. Even though you and your pooch have sidewalks to take your daily strolls, avoiding busy times like rush hour and when the school buses are running could save you from a nasty accident. Drivers aren't always looking for people out walking their dogs, so try to avoid these times, if you can.
With family neighborhoods typically come lots of kids of all ages, many of which spend their days playing in their yards and running around on the sidewalks and in the streets. Chances are good that there is going to be a certain amount of interaction between the local kids and your pooch. Be sure you keep your pup on a short leash to help keep them under control.
Being this close to a major retail area of town, you aren't going to find much in the way of green spaces or parks. Luckily, you are only a few blocks from the City Center Sports Fields and Complex. Here, the two of you will find plenty of grass to play on when the softball fields aren't in use.
The nearest fenced-in dog park is ten minutes away on Spruce Creek Road and next door to the All Children's Park. There are two sections to this one-acre park, each furnished with benches in the shade and water stations for the dogs. They even provide a rinse station to cool your dog down!
Let's not forget the beach that is only a ten-minute drive from your home, offering miles of sand to hike along while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. Make sure you take time to go for a dip in the warm waves!
