Wag! Walkers know Beasley (Oak Park)
Beasley is a small community located in the shadow of I-4 filled with larger single-family homes and suburban-size homes. All of the streets have sidewalks with a wide grassy strip between them and the streets. There are several dog-friendly parks and pet stores within a short driving distance. The one downside to living here is the CTL Transportation Depot just the east. These trucks routinely haul chemicals and other products along E. Columbia Dr. on their way to the interstate. Between this and the interstate itself, life here can be a bit on the noisy side. The good news is that you still get to appreciate the fantastic Tampa weather that is mild enough to take your pooch for a walk almost any day of the year. If you don't feel like walking along the streets, you can always head to the Oak Park Play Center where there is plenty of room to burn off some of that extra energy.
What is the terrain like in Beasley (Oak Park)?
The terrain in Beasley is quite flat, but that is only to be expected in the vast majority of the Greater Tampa area which, at times, resembles the entire state of Kansas. Yet this part of Tampa has a lot of small lakes and water reservoirs to help break up the monotony. Keep in mind that most of the lakes are surrounded by homes leaving you no access to them. In order to make your walks more interesting, try taking different routes, go across E. Columbus and work your way down to Oak Park Play Center, or add a few more blocks to your walk to help make each day's walk a little different and varied. This will help both you and your pup avoid becoming so bored with your walks that other than potty breaks, you pretty much just stop bothering. Keep exploring and exercising and you're bound to find ways to spice up your walks!
How many greenways are there in Beasley (Oak Park)?
Like much of Tampa, there are large swaths of green space in the area, but most of them are either privately owned, country clubs, or cemeteries, none of which are places you can take your puppy for a walk. The one area close to Beasley is Oak Park Center Playground. Here, there is a large grassy area for the two of you to run around on. You can play fetch or frisbee as long as you keep your pup on a leash.
If the two of you are looking for a serious challenge for your walks, you can check out the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve. This is a great place to bring the entire family including your four-legged friend. There miles of trails to explore, places to go kayaking, and camping spots if you feel like getting out of the house and back to nature for a few days with your pup and kids in tow.
