Top dog walkers in Los Cien
Wag! Walkers know Los Cien
Los Cien is a small community of older homes that have been kept well-kept. The area's first homes date back to around 1910. Los Cien is Spanish for 'The 100' which started out as a mutual aid society consisting of approximately 100 cigar workers from Spain. The society was formed to help everyone buy a home by pooling their money.
Today, the neighborhood offers sidewalks in some areas, but not others, so walking your dog requires paying close attention to traffic. There are numerous establishments to eat in within walking distance, multiple dog-friendly parks, and pet supply stores within driving distance with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Raymond James Stadium just down the road.
With moderate temperatures year round, every day is a good day to go for a stroll with your pooch. Remember to go out early in the morning during the days when the temperatures start approaching the 80s as pavement temperatures can easily burn your dog's paws.
What is the terrain like in Los Cien?
There isn't much in the way of exciting or challenging terrain in the Los Cien neighborhood. There's really just more of the same flat ground found in most of the Greater Tampa area. Most of what you and your hound are likely to see here is either cement or tarmac. In fact, the Buc's home stadium may be the largest green space in the area and you certainly can't take your pup walking there. Even the banks of the nearby Hillsborough River are all private property, leaving you with little choice but to make the most of the sidewalks and streets around your home. Keep in mind that while W. Armenia may have the bulk of the shopping and restaurants in the area, this is a bustling main highway and as such is typically a hectic road. Be sure to give your pup plenty of time to get used to the noise!
How many greenways are there in Los Cien?
The immediate area surrounding La Cien has nothing to offer in the way of green space unless you count backyards and the stadium. If you want green space to take your dog to so you can go walking safely from the traffic, the nearest is the 132-acre Al Lopez park with its two lakes, one with lots of fish for you to try and catch, and long trails that wander through the entire park. The park is located directly across W. MLK Blvd. from the stadium and is open to everyone.
If you prefer to travel east across the river, Duran Park is a small park with grassy spaces for you and your dog to play in. Just northeast of Duran Park is Plymouth Park which is more of a vast, green area with a small playground in the middle. You will see plenty of people here taking their dogs out for a stroll!
