Top dog walkers in Brookwood Hills
Wag! Walkers know Brookwood Hills
Atlanta weather is cooperative with warm temperatures for much of the year and lots of sunny days. Winters are colder and see more rainy days, however, frigid temperatures and icy conditions are almost unheard of. Summers, however, are extremely hot and humid and strenuous walks should be avoided. Pick cooler times of day and keep you and your pup hydrated.
What is the terrain like in Brookwood Hills?
Brookwood Hills is a historic district with beautiful older homes and properties. Peachtree Creek runs along the east side while Peachtree Road NE runs along the west. The north side of the area has apartment complexes and train tracks along it and the Northeast Expressway is situated on the south end.
Parks and recreation areas are centrally located. Private properties have mature landscaping and beautiful yards while residential streets are shady with separate sidewalks for dogs and their owners to use on strolls. The area is hilly and walks will involve some climbs. Pick your route according to your ability and adjust according to weather conditions as climbing lots of hills in hot weather is not ideal.
The railway on the north and freeway on the south pose an impediment to walking your dog and are not pedestrian-friendly areas. These spaces should be avoided when possible and crossed only at designated pedestrian crossings.
How many greenways are there in Brookwood Hills?
Dale Way Park is located centrally and boasts a swimming pool, ballfields, a playground, and tennis courts. This popular recreation area also has lots of thick trees and a paved pedestrian path that make a great location for a walk with your dog in the summer.
Larger greenways are located to the west and northwest. The Tanyard Creek Park is within walking distance to the west and this 14-acre greenway has a 1-mile long beltline walking trail and other side trails in the forested areas. This shady park is home to local wildlife and is a great place to visit with your pup.
A little farther to the northwest is the Atlanta Memorial Park. The west side of this park has a natural treed greenway while the east side is more open and developed with a golf course and tennis center. The Peachtree Battle Trail is a paved walking trail through this park, open to visiting Fidos on a leash.
