Atlanta weather has mild temperatures most of the year. Atlanta gets average rainfall with more wet weather in cooler winter months. Precipitation usually falls as rain, not snow, as temperatures are usually above the freezing mark. Snow is rare, but when it does occur, temperatures near the freezing point make walkways icy. Wait for daytime temperatures to heat up and melt icy surfaces before taking your dog out when this occurs.
Summer months can see very hot, humid conditions. When extreme heat and humidity occur, walking your dog can be unpleasant and even dangerous if you or your dog experience heat-related illnesses due to overexertion. Stay hydrated, seek shade, and walk during cooler times of the day during summer months.
The terrain in Lincoln Homes has some hills and inclines, although these are not steep, and most pedestrians and pets can traverse the region comfortably. There is a townhouse complex on the east side and single-family homes in other areas. These homes tend to be moderate in size and residential properties are generally well landscaped with large trees, lawns, and gardens.
A distribution center is located on the north side of the neighborhood. Much of the community does not have separate sidewalks, so when walking your dog, you may need to share roads with local traffic.
There are lots of natural greenways and green space in the Lincoln Homes area, however, undeveloped wooded areas do not have maintained trails and terrain can be rough depending on weather conditions. Parks to the north can be accessed by crossing the tracks at Bolton Road along the sidewalk that passes over the railway.
The Chattahoochee Park is located within walking distance to the north and has trees and open areas for park-goers and their pets to enjoy. Whittier Mill Park is also located within walking distance to the north. This large park has a walking trail with lots of trees and a large open lawn to enjoy with your dog.
AD Williams Park is a larger developed greenway to the south with sports facilities and fields for you to visit with your canine companion. Basketball, baseball, and soccer are frequent activities in the park and there are picnic sites and a playground providing further amenities for park users.
