Peachtree Battle Alliance is a north Atlanta, Georgia residential neighborhood. There are many businesses located along Peachtree Road on the east side of the community. A shopping center, cafes, restaurants, grocers, gas stations, and other shops and services along this thoroughfare are within walking distance for residents.
On foot travel in Atlanta is feasible throughout the year as Atlanta has a temperate climate. Winters are cool but rarely frigid and snow and icy conditions are not common. Cold, wet weather is the norm in winter and dog walkers should have warm, waterproof jackets to keep out the chill. Summers are hot and humid in Atlanta and sometimes dangerously so. Extreme heat can result in illness, so dog walkers should make sure they do not overexert themselves or their pets, choose cooler times of the day to take their dog out, and make sure they and their pets have lots of water.
A large golf course and tennis center are located on the southwest side of the neighborhood. The district has huge majestic shade trees along residential roads that provide lots of shade, ideal for summer walks. Most streets also have separate sidewalks for pedestrians and pets. Sidewalks and grassy berms not only create safe pedestrian ways in the community, but also create cool footing for your pup on long hot summer days.
There are some apartment complexes in the area, but most of the neighborhood is made up of beautiful single-family homes on well landscaped, large properties. The road layout creates some unique “triangles” on area roads that are planted with trees and lawns and the area has some hills, but they are not particularly steep and are not usually an impediment to on-foot travel. On the side of the neighborhood, there are some small creeks with ravines and wooded banks lacing through the region.
The Atlanta Memorial Park is located on the west side of Peachtree Battle Alliance. This greenway has two sections: a large natural wooded section in the west with paved and natural trails for dog walkers to explore with their pets and a more developed area to the east with a golf course and tennis center. The Peachtree Battle Trail runs through the park and heads north to Haynes Manor Park, also on the west side. Haynes Manor Park is a heavily wooded green space with lots of shady spots.
Another park in the neighborhood is located along Peachtree Battle Avenue. This grassy greenway lies between the east and westbound lanes. The greenway has lots of trees and grassy areas for walking with your dog but is not enclosed and the roadway on both sides can have lots of traffic, so keep your dog leashed while using this greenway for an outing with your pup.
