Top dog walkers in Rockdale
Wag! Walkers know Rockdale
Dog walkers in Rockdale enjoy warm temperatures with plenty of sunny days. Winters are cool and there is more rain during this season. However, temperatures are rarely below freezing and snow is uncommon. During the summer, extreme heat and humidity make walking your dog unpleasant and even dangerous if overexertion, overexposure, or dehydration occur. Walk your dog during cooler times of the day such as early morning or later in the evening when temperatures moderate somewhat. Make sure you and your pup drink lots of water and find shady spots to rest or walk. Spring and fall temperatures are more reliable for daily walks, although occasional rain showers occur.
What is the terrain like in Rockdale?
Rockdale is a suburban neighborhood located a fair distance from the Atlanta business center. It is bordered by the Inman Rail Yard on the northeast side and the West Highlands neighborhood on the northwest side. The Westside Reservoir Park takes up a substantial part of the south side of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood is comprised of some areas with recently built apartment complexes and single-family homes with some light industrial activity on the northern border. There is green space in between built-up areas. The terrain has some hilly and some level locations, so hills are not steep and pedestrians and pets can usually climb them without too much trouble.
The neighborhood has lots of natural treed spots between buildings, in parks, and on private properties. The industrial area is less well landscaped and located near the railyard and should be avoided by pedestrians and pets.
How many greenways are there in Rockdale?
Rockdale Park is located on the west side of the Rockdale neighborhood and across the street from an elementary school with some recreational facilities and fields that are associated with the school property. The park is heavily treed and is a great shady spot to visit with your pup.
Herman E. Perry Park is located in the northern section of the neighborhood and boasts paved paths, an amphitheater where concerts, events, and performances occasionally take place, a playground, pavilions, and open areas. The Hollingsworth Boulevard greenway extends to the south between the southeast and northwest lanes. This greenway has paved paths, benches, and open spaces, providing a useful greenway for traversing a large section of the neighborhood.
The south side of the neighborhood is taken up by the Westside Reservoir Park. This greenway is over 300 acres and has lots of hiking trails to explore with your hound. There is a lake at the site of the old quarry to enjoy as well.
