Turpin Hill is a neighborhood located in Augusta, Georgia. Augusta is located on the Georgia-South Carolina border, along the shore of the Savannah River. Augusta highlights include several historic districts and homes, Augusta University, and the Augusta National Golf Club, the well-known course for hosting The Masters.

Turpin Hill is largely residential and is made of standalone, single-family homes that are moderate in size. Additionally, there is also an apartment complex on the northern side of the neighborhood. Turpin Hill also has plenty of other non-residential buildings and amenities. There are several local companies, a gas station, an elementary school, and almost ten different churches and ministries.

The Augusta climate is relatively mild compared to other parts of the country. In the summer, temperatures and humidity levels tend to rise and be quite warm. The winters have milder temperatures and plenty of rainfall. The spring and fall months are more mild in nature.

Unlike its name might imply, Turpin Hill doesn't have too many hills. There are some very slight changes in elevation, but nothing that should be too noticeable to you or your pup.  Unfortunately, very little of this Augusta neighborhood has sidewalks, so you and Fido will have to share the roadways with oncoming traffic, cyclists, and other pedestrians. Always make sure you have Fido's leash under control and you remain aware of your surroundings.

The boundaries of Turpin Hill include Poplar Street to the northeast, Clay Street to the east, Old Savannah Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the south, Turpin Street and Essie McIntyre Boulevard to the west, and railroad tracks to the northwest. Swanee Quintet Boulevard is another major roadway that runs from north to south through the Turpin Hill neighborhood and pedestrians may wish to avoid it for safety reasons.

Unfortunately, since Turpin Hill is a closer to a more industrial part of town, there are no greenways located in this neighborhood. Thankfully, there are a few nearby that you and Fido can visit.

The two closest greenways are Doughty Park and Carrie J. Mays Park, both of which are less than a mile away to the southwest. The smaller of the two, Doughty Park, has a baseball field, basketball and tennis courts, a community center, and a small playground for local children to enjoy. Carrie J. Mays Park, which is slightly larger, is home to another community center with various amenities, a playground, a few sports facilities, and a picnicking area.

Only two miles away, you will find Pendleton King Park which is home to a local Bark Park. This off-leash, fenced-in area is a great option if you and Fido are looking for an alternative to your normal daily walk.
