If you enjoy daily walks with your dog, you will enjoy warm springs and autumns with hot summers. If temperatures soar in the summer, you may want to avoid walking in the middle of the day as morning and evenings are cooler. Be sure to take water for you and your dog if you are taking a long hike. Winters are cold and snowy with an average of 30 inches of snow per year and an average low of 14 degrees Fahrenheit. You will want to dress warm and avoid blizzard weather.
The neighborhood terrain is hilly and you and your hound will have to navigate some steep climbs while hiking in the region. Other homes further from the park feature American Craftsman and bungalow styles with large shade trees and may feature stairs or retaining walls where elevated landscaping requires them. Most streets have sidewalks for walking and some grass berms, but some streets are devoid of pedestrian paths, so plan your route when walking your dog to avoid these as much as possible.
Jefferson Park is located nearby and this 12-acre park provides recreation facilities like a baseball field, playground, and basketball courts adjacent to the local school. Your furry friend may not be welcome on playgrounds or sports fields, but trails around the outside of the park where trees border the area are accessible to your pup and create a greenway that you can enjoy if you keep your them on a leash.
