Agate Beach County Park

Enjoy a beautiful view of the water and Iceberg Point on the southernmost tip of Lopez Island at the Agate Beach County Park. At low tide, a sandy beach is accessible for you and your dog to enjoy.

Your dog must be attended to at all times and owners are responsible for clean-up, so make sure to pack the doggy bags. If your dog gets overly excited, disturbs others, or is displaying aggressive behavior, you may be asked to remove your pet from the Park. 

Lopez Island is known for its agriculture and is relatively flat, open, and pastoral. As you stroll the beach be on the lookout for wildlife. Turkeys, rabbits, deer, foxes, raccoon, seals and otters are often spotted. 

The paths at this day park are perfect for a stroll. Skating, bicycles, skateboards, and moped riding is allowed on park roads only, making the paths safe for you and your pet to enjoy. As inviting as the cliffs may look, they are not stable for climbing. Stick to the path and enjoy the serene native plants and wildlife.

While camping is prohibited at Agate Beach County Park, there are many options to choose from. Enjoy dog-friendly options of RV parks, camping, bed & breakfasts, farm stays, cottages, and more. The island is set up for tourists and you and your dog are going to love it there!  

Enjoy a weekend or a week away with your dog soaking in a cool 70° in the summer and 40° in the winter. The mellow island vibe and friendly welcome by the 2,500 year-round residents will have you never wanting to leave. And why should you, when there is so much for you and your pet to do! While not all the shops allow dogs inside, many have water bowls set up for them outside on their sidewalks. You can take small dogs and service dogs into the local Whale Museum and some restaurants provide outdoor patios where your pet is welcome to join you.
