You will find two sections reserved specifically for swimming at Baldwin Beach Park. You can take the plunge at Baby Beach located to the west, or travel on down to Baldwin Cove in the east. Though the waters are sometimes too rough for swimming, both spots are pawrfect for such water sports as boogie boarding and surfing.Â
The sand dunes are the ideal spot if you fancy yourself a runner. You can ponder their former significance as an ancient Hawaiian burial ground as you meander along the sand-covered shore in search of buried treasure. Fido may join you for a run or for a swim, but be sure to carry clean up bags to dispose of any waste. You will also want to keep your fave pooch on a leash so as not to upset the local paw-lice! If you go for a run, you will want to stay behind the seawall; otherwise, you will be surprised by people sunning themselves "sans barkinis" at a clothing optional beach. This section is completely separate from the family fur-iendly area. But never fear; you won't encounter it unless you go looking for it.Â
If a picnic lunch sounds doggone divine, there are lots of pawrific spots where you can enjoy a packed meal or snack. From picnic tables to a pavilion which offers shelter from the sun, Baldwin Beach Park has got you covered! Use one of the on-site grills to cook up a feast for the whole fam to enjoy. Don't forget to pack some drinking water to help keep Fido's thirst at bay.Â
Bathrooms which include showers are provided on the grounds for use by the pawblic. You can use the outdoor showers to rinse the sand and surf out of Fido's coat before the car ride back home. If you are fortunate enough to see a sea turtle resting on the shore, you'll want to snap a pic, for sure! Just take care that Fido doesn't disturb them as they are a protected species, and there are very hefty fines for causing them harm.Â
If you're craving a day of sun in an island paradise, Baldwin Beach Park is the place for you. You'll have a barking great time!Â
