Planning a vacation in Delaware and want to take your dog to the beach? If you visit at the right time of year, Bethany Beach could be the paw-fect destination for you and your furry friend.
Located around 55 miles south of Dover, this beautiful seaside destination offers a relaxed vibe and the chance to explore a lovely stretch of coastline without having to battle crowds of people. Bethany Beach is known for its boardwalk-backed stretch of sand and offers plenty of space for dogs and their owners to take a stroll along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
Unfortunately, dogs are prohibited on the beach from May 15th to September 30th, so you and your furry friend will need to look elsewhere if you want to get out onto the sand. However, dogs are welcome on the beach at all other times of the year, but they'll need to be leashed and under control at all times. Dogs must also be licensed and wearing tags, while it's your responsibility to dispose of your pet's waste and ensure that you don't leave any mess behind.
If you can take care of these simple tasks, Bethany Beach is a lovely spot for you and your pooch to enjoy some sun, sand, and fresh air. The beach is approximately one mile long and 150 feet wide, so there's ample room for you and your dog to stretch your legs or find your own patch of sand.
The beach is clean, family-friendly, and is backed by a 12-foot wide boardwalk that runs for .38 miles along the sand. It's a popular spot with walkers and joggers, and there's a comfort station at the beach front on Garfield Parkway.
From October through mid-May, Bethany Beach is a lovely, dog-friendly beach that's well worth a visit. Why not check it out with your four-legged friend?
