Dog Beach at Honokohau Harbor

If you're looking for a beach that has gone completely to the doggoes, you won't need to look any further. The Dog Beach at Honokohau Harbor is the place for you! Nestled in the prime resort area of Kailua-Kona on the island of Hawaii, this pawsome seaside haven is the only spot in all of Hawaii that allows pooches to enjoy the sand and the sea completely off-lead. Your main canine squeeze will have a blast racing along the soft sand shores and splashing in the warm tranquil waters completely free of a leash. What a pawsitively awesome treat for any doggo! 

To get to the beach, you and Fido will need to scale a section of lava rocks to reach the white sand coast. You'll have a grand time meandering over the varied terrain, but you'll need to be very sure to watch where you step, so you don't take a tumble!

The water at the Dog Beach at Honokahau Harbor is quite shallow, making it a pawrific place for Fido to practice his best doggy paddle. This woofderful beach is an extremely pawpular spot for scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming. 

You'll love meandering along the soft sand shoreline with your main canine squeeze along for some exercise and company. The coast often attracts sea turtles, a rare and protected species in Hawaii. Take as many pictures as you like, but be certain to keep Fido away as interfering with sea turtles will land you in trouble with the local pawlice!

If you feel hunger pangs coming on after your day of fun in the sun, why not enjoy a picnic? When you pack your lunch, you'll want to include Scooby snacks, bottled water, and cleanup bags. Since there are no amenities at the Dog Beach at Honokohau Harbor, you will need to take out any bags containing waste with you for disposal at home.
