Edisto City Beaches

Edisto Beach is located in Edisto Beach, South Carolina. The beach is a decent size and gets crowded on the weekends, although never as crowded as places like Isle of Palms or Folly Beach near Charleston, South Carolina. However, there is still plenty of room to walk, run, play fetch with your dog, and splash in the waves together. 

Although this is a dog-friendly beach, your dog must wear their leash at all times from May 1st to October 31st. Any other time outside of these months, your dog can be off-leash, but they must be well controlled, respond to voice commands, and never act aggressively. You must also carry a leash in your hand at all times, even if you don't use it on your dog at the beach. 

We also love the fact they have doggie poop bags at nearly every entrance of the beach for convenience and easy cleanup! You can get fined if you leave dog poop on the beach and do not clean it up. The city of Edisto Beach wants you only to leave your footprints and dog pawprints in the sand.

Edisto Beach does not have lifeguards on duty during any time of the year, so swimming is at your own risk. That means you must be safe and careful when letting your dog swim in the ocean. Waves tend to get high and rip currents get strong, so keep your dog on a leash if they want to go in the water. Edisto Beach does not feature any "fancy" things like grills, picnic areas, concession stands, or beach chair and umbrella rentals. This beach is solely for playing, hanging out and relaxation at your own expense. 

Overall, Edisto Beach is a wonderful dog-friendly beach with a relaxed and quiet vibe. It is perfect for spending quality time with your dog on a no-frill beach!
