Description

The small, quiet community of Surfside Beach in South Carolina offers its visitors 32 access points to over 2 miles of oceanfront beach. This beautiful, inclusive, welcoming community is well known for their "Family Beach" throughout America, as it was the first town in the United States to gain the title of being an Autism-Friendly travel destination.

Not only is the beach recognized for its inclusive nature to humans, but it's also pet-friendly during the offseason. This means it's perfect for you and your pooch to visit because the pet-friendly access grants your pooch freedom to all areas of the beach, giving them ample space to explore.

Not to mention, the year-round temperatures in Surfside Beach make it an ideal location to cool off, even during the offseason. Parking on the beach is easy to find and only costs 1 dollar per hour from March 1st to October 31st, all other times of the year it’s free. Pay upon arriving at the beach and display your parking permit on your dashboard.

During your walk, you and your pooch can enjoy the sights of the various beach activities happening year-round, including swimming, fishing, surfing, and beach sports. While patrolling the beach with your four-legged companion, you’re asked to keep them on their leash at all times and to clean up all dog waste.

The town of Surfside Beach is known for its eco-friendly nature, and therefore, there are a variety of garbage and recycling bins at your disposal along the beach. Surfside Beach is known for its cleanliness so to keep it pet-friendly, all pet owners are asked to responsibly abide by the rules of the beach.

While walking the beach with your pooch, you are asked to avoid any of the fenced off areas, including the sand dune areas, in order to preserve them. Lifeguards are on the beach during the on-season, but not during the off-season when dog walking is permitted.

If you’re ever in South Carolina with your pooch between September 15th and May 14th and you're looking for a refreshing walk along the beach, Surfside Beach is the place for you!
