Folly Beach County Park

Located on the southwestern tip of Folly Island, the Folly Beach County Park has one of the most pupular and well-known beaches in South Carolina and the Charleston area. This pawtastic park finds itself between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River, so you have access to the calm river side and the waves in the ocean. Parking ranges from $5 to $15 per regular vehicle, depending on the season and day of the week. Pedestrians and bicyclists are always free to enter!

The beach inside the Folly Beach County Park is quite expansive, and there are a lot of sandy areas to walk, run, play with your dog, and lay out in the sun. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months in designated swimming areas on the ocean side of the beach. You can enjoy beach chair and umbrella rentals for the beach if you do not have your own that range in cost from $5 to $15, and can also enjoy outdoor showers, porta-potties, and a seasonal snack shop and retail shopping area for when you are done at the beach.

While your pup is welcome to join you at the beach in Folly Beach County Park, leashes are always required, no matter the season. During non-peak season, from October to April, your dog is allowed to romp in the sand and waves any time of day. During peak season, from May 1st to September 30th, dogs are not allowed on the beaches from 10 AM to 6 PM, so choose an early morning or late evening visit. 

Be sure to have all the beach essentials you'll need for a puptastic day in the sand and waves. This should include water to share with your playful dog, and clean-up bags to help keep this beach pristine. 

With tons of sand to run in, plenty of water to splash in, and lots of things to do, the beach at the Folly Beach County Park is a furbulous place to spend the day with your furry bestie!
