Description

Huntington Beach State Park is a picturesque destination, favored by locals and out-of-town visitors alike. The pristine beaches provide excellent opportunities for swimming, bird watching, and surf fishing.

The park is also full of wildlife. You have a chance to spot loggerhead turtles and a variety of other endangered species. Mink can sometimes be spotted frolicking throughout the area, and alligators also call portions of the park home. Over 300 species call the park home at various points in the year, making it a must-see destination for avian enthusiasts.

There is also a major landmark at Huntington Beach State Park. Visitors come from all over the world to view and tour Atalaya, the winter home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, giving them an opportunity to enjoy the Moorish-style architecture. In September, the park hosts the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival around the house, making it a fun time of year to take a journey to the area.

For those who’d like to enjoy Hunting Beach State Park for more than a day, you can reserve one of the 173 campsites, including 107 with water and power and an additional 66 full hookup sites. Three picnic shelters are available for large gatherings, and individual tables are scattered throughout the park. If you want to stretch your legs after a meal, consider the two-mile look known as “the square.” Several boardwalks are also available, as well as a biking trail.

As an added convenience, you also have access to complimentary WiFi at the campground as well as at the visitor center. You can also make a stop at the gift shop if you want to purchase a souvenir.

If you want to bring your dog along on your trip to Huntington Beach State Park, make sure to keep them on a least that is no longer than six feet at all times. This ensures your pet remains under your control and also helps you keep them safe from threats, including alligators. Additionally, remove any pet waste while you enjoy the park. This helps maintain a clean environment, something that is essential to preserving the ecosystem.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
