Kalaniana'ole Beach Park

If the warm Hawaiian breezes are beckoning you to take a day of vacay, Kalaniana'ole Beach Park just might be the pawrfect place to bring your pooch for some fun. This pawsitively awesome beach was formerly known as the Nanakuli Beach Park, a name bestowed upon it because of the street it resides on. In 2016, the community voted to change the name to Kalaniana'ole Beach Park to honor a local hero who had recently passed away. 

Located along Oahu's "leeward coast," you will easily spot this people and pooch paradise just off Farrington Highway. With over 40 acres of property to explore, you and your best canine pal are bound to get in a pawsome workout and have a barking great time! Your pooch is welcome to accompany you on your trip to Kalaniana'ole Beach Park, but for their own safety, all doggoes must remain leashed. Pupperonis must stay below the high tide line, meaning on the ocean side of the debris line. 

You won't want for pawrific things to do at this doggone amazing seaside retreat! There is a large expanse of white sand shore between two limestone areas. Here, you and your puppy pal can meander along the coast in search of hidden treasures, work on your suntan, or even just take a furrifically relaxing stroll. Other great activities at this puptastic oceanside heaven include surfing, snorkeling, fishing, picnicking, and swimming. The waters are known to be prone to high surf and powerful currents, particularly in the spring and summer months. With this in mind, you and your pooch should limit your swimming to days when the water is calm. 

There is very little shade at Kalaniana'ole Beach Park, so you will need to tote along some sunscreen. You'll also want to bring  some drinking water and cleanup bags. 

This wooftastic beach also has vast grass areas and a ballfield, both pawrfect spots for playing tug, fetch, or catch with your best canine pal. You will even find a few picnic tables where you can do some people watching with your pooch while you both enjoy a packed lunch from home.
