Kaluanui Beach

Fancy a day at a pawsitively stunning Oahu oasis? Why not bring your pooch and your peeps to visit Kaluanui Beach? When it comes to fun in the sun, you can't beat it! Located just off the famous Kamehameha Highway, a stretch of road well-renowned for its many beaches, you will find Kaluanui Beach. This pawrific oceanside haven is located in what is known as the "windward side" of Hauula in the town of Punaluu. 

Come early to avoid any trouble finding a pawrific pawrking spot. You can leave your car along the street directly in front of the beach. A doggo-fur-iendly kinda place, your pooch is warmly welcomed to join you at Kaluanui Beach, but they must remain on a lead, and in certain areas. Dogs are allowed below the high tide line, marked by debris and seaweed, to the ocean.  

The sandy areas of this furrific oceanside retreat are quite narrow and change with the tides. During periods of high tide, there is no real shore to speak of, so it is best to check the tide reports online and come when the tide is low if your plans include taking your pooch for a stroll. 

Most of the shore areas are covered in coral reef, so they are not the best spots to take a swim. However, at the very center of this wooftastically beautiful beach is an area called the Kaluanui Channel which is free from the reef and has a sand-lined bottom. Here, you and your pup can take the plunge in the refreshing waters and show off your best swimming moves. 

There are no amenities on offer at this pawsome beach, so you will need to bring along a beach essentials kit from home. Don't forget to include bottled water and some cleanup bags.
