Lanikai is a Hawaiian name which means "heavenly ocean," a term which describes this tranquil beach oasis well. You and your pooch are sure to have a barking great time exploring this pawrific coastal haven. Your main canine squeeze is welcome to join you in the sand and the surf at Lanikai Beach, but must stay on a leash. 

Lanikai Beach is one of Hawaii's pawrific hidden treasures. You will find it a little tricky to find, but it is well worth the effort to locate. To get to this pawtastic Kailua hotspot, you must remain on Kailua Street when the road merges towards the ocean. From here, you will turn right onto Kawailoa Street and continue along this road until it becomes Aalapapa. This street forms a circular path and turns into Mokulua Drive. All beach access points can be found directly off this street.

To access the main beach sections, take Kaoilena Drive, and the more private stretch of beach can be reached from Kualima Drive. When you head out for the beach, take note that there are no official signs marking where you will find the beach itself. Your only indication is a pillar which is marked with the word "Lanikai." This pillar sits to the side of an alleyway between two residences. You and your pup can follow this path to the beach. 

Lanikai Beach offer no on-site amenities, so you will need to bring water and cleanup bags with you from home.
