Looking for a new Oahu beach to explore? A trip to Mokuleia Army Beach might just fit the bill! This North Shore gem is located in the town of Waialua and was a military base from 1970 to 1989. A number of landmarks mark the location of this beach. It is found to the east of Camp Harold Erdman Beach, west of Mokuleia Beach Park, and directly across the street from Dillingham Airfield. This oceanside haven rests right at the start of Ka'ena Point State Park.Â
Mokuleia Army Beach features a sand beach that stretches a long distance, making it the pawrfect place to take a walk with your fave pooch. Pupperonis are welcome everywhere at this doggo-furiendly retreat, but do keep them on leash.
Though your pooch is more than welcome to join you for a swim at this pawsome beach paradise, the area is known to see waves up to 15 feet in height. Under these conditions, it is not safe for pups or people to be out in the water. However, there is a small section which is protected by a reef where you, your main canine squeeze, and your fam can snorkel, swim, and surf to your heart's content from November through March. Other times of the year, the current is far too strong for water activities.Â
Mokuleia Army Beach doesn't see much activity. Some local fishermen do like to cast their lines out in search of their lunch at this pawrific beach haven. Bring along a fishing rod and some bait to give it a try yourself!
This furrific beach offers puptastically breathtaking views of the nearby Waianae Mountains as well as the ocean. It is also one of several area beaches that was used during the filming of the pawpular TV show LOST.
Do bring along some drinking water and cleanup bags to this pawsome beach. You will also need to be sure your doggo is current on vaccinations and sporting their city dog license tag.Â
If you're looking for a place to have some fun, fun, fun, Mokuleia Army Beach just might be the place for you. Bring your pooch to enjoy some sea and sun today!Â
