Has your pup been lying around the house all day? Then treat them to a trip to Papa’iola Beach for some doggone fun in the sun! Located on the North Shore, this white sand beach is also called Police Beach. But don’t let that intimidate you. This place will reinvigorate your dog’s spirit and make their tail wag!
Papa’iloa Beach is a hidden gem and is not as crowded as the other nearby beaches. To
get to the beach, find a parking spot on Papa’iloa Road, look for the blue
beach access sign, then follow a little alley down to the sand. Your pooch will
be greeted by a large expanse of white sand and bright blue surf. If your doggo
is into pawp culture, let them know this beach was used during the filming of
the pupular TV show Lost.
Although dogs are allowed on this beach, they are limited
to where they can go. All canine visitors must stay on the ocean side of the
tide line. In other words, your pupster needs to stick to the wet sand and
ocean. If you’re looking for the pawfect
swimming beach, you should know that Papa’iloa Beach isn’t the ideal spot for humans to go
for a dip. A shallow reef follows much of the coastline and the waves here can
get pretty big during winter. However, as long as the waves aren’t too large,
this is a great place for your furry friend to paddle around or wade in the
saltwater.
As you and your furry BFF are strolling along the surf,
keep your eyes peeled for surfers and spearfishers. Papa’iloa Beach is also
known to house turtles. If you are lucky enough to see one of these creatures,
make sure your dog doesn’t harass them. Also, don’t forget to bring water and
clean up bags for a great day in the sun.
Make no mistake, your pup will love this pawsome beach!
