The beach gets crowded in the summertime, but the good news is there is a separate dog beach especially made to take your dog for hours and hours of fun. If you go to one of the main beaches, you will find bathrooms, and a concessions stand that sells beverages, snacks, and small, convenience-store-type items.
This beach has six miles of sand for humans to swim and walk on and the separate doggie beach is located south of the lighthouse. The beach has clean and sandy areas with shallow and calm water, making this a perfect spot to take your dog to play and splash around in the water. The beach is generally quiet and not overly crowded with people and dogs, so if your dog is timider and shy around other pups, this is an excellent beach for them to explore and have fun at, especially if it is during the week.
Please keep in mind your dog must be on a leash at all times in the park, and this includes the dog beach and when they are in the water as well. Your leash must be 8 feet or less. The beach area provides poop bags so you can quickly clean up after your pet when they are finished going to the bathroom. Always make sure your clean up their business to keep the beach clean and pleasant for everyone.
Overall, Point Beach State Forest is a quiet, clean, and pretty lakefront beach that your dog is going to love to play at. The calm waters on a hot day will help them cool off and beat that summer heat!
