Tolmie State Park Beach

Dogs in Olympia know a furbulous spot to catch some sun is at the Tolmie State Park! Located in Puget Sound, you and your pup can find this pawmazing beach in the small cove of Nisqually Reach. 

With lots of beach area, and calm waves, even the shyest pups will love it here. Your dog can romp in the sand, take a beach stroll for treasures, splash in the water, or just chill on the beach with you and soak in some rays. The beach is backed by forest, which gives you a feeling of being away from it all. For the humans, strap on the scuba gear and go diving in the artificial reef off shore. Getting hungry? Try your hand at fishing, or go clamming or crabbing, just be sure to get your license first. 

The Tolmie State Park is definitely a destination for beach goers, but it has lots more to offer inland. Vast forested areas are home to over 3 miles of trails to hike. Over 30 sheltered and unsheltered picnic areas beckon you for a rest or meal, and some offer gorgeous views of the beach and water. And with 2 kitchen shelters complete with electricity, you can bring the clan for an afternoon out. Restrooms can be found near the shelters off the main park road, but be sure to bring clean-up bags for your pup, and always pick up whatever your pup lays down anywhere in the park and beach.

Don't furget to bring all the essentials, including water bottles and a bowl for your pup. You can fill up at the restrooms, but they will be handy on the beach and trails. Be sure your dog is vaccinated, licensed and tagged before you come to this woofderful park. Keep your adventure pup on a leash no longer than six feet throughout the park and beach at all times. 

You'll also need a Discover Pass to get into the park, which can be purchased online or at the gate. A $10 fee is required for the day, while an annual pass good for all Washington state parks can be purchased for $30.
