Description

Spectacular waterfalls, scenic nature hikes, and pet-friendly camping in a secluded location -- if this sounds like your idea of a dream vacation, you'll love Amnicon Falls State Park. Located in South Range, Wisconsin, the park features a series of pretty waterfalls on the Amnicon River.

The river is a stunning sight when in full flow, and there are several short trails along both banks that provide excellent views of the falls and the surrounding terrain. A 0.8-mile self-guided nature trail combines some of the best river views with access to the riverbed downstream from the falls. Swimming and wading are both permitted, but you'll need to exercise extreme caution as water levels and flow can fluctuate substantially.

Other activities in the park include fishing and picnicking whenever the weather allows, along with snowshoeing in the winter months. Please note that the $8 park entry fee quoted above is for vehicles with Wisconsin plates, and out-of-state visitors will need to pay an $11 entry fee.

The Amnicon Falls State Park campground offers rustic camping in a pretty and peaceful location. There are 36 campsites available, including one that is accessible for people with disabilities and two walk-in sites. Remember, this is primitive camping only, with no flushing toilets or hot showers, so you'll need to be prepared to forgo a few creature comforts if you want to stay here.

If camping with your dog, make sure you stick to all posted rules regarding pets. You'll need to keep your furry friend leashed and under control at all times, while it's also essential that you clean up after your pooch whenever necessary.

With these simple responsibilities taken care of, all that's left to do is explore and enjoy the best Amnicon Falls State Park has to offer. And when you can see it all with your dog by your side, this beautiful park offers a camping experience that's hard to beat.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
