Picture yourself spending the summer season in a cozy campground by a picture-perfect lake where water fun includes swimming, fishing, boating, and sunbathing on the sandy shore.
This is the holiday vision of Lake Atwood Campground, open from April through to October for folks to come and enjoy the camps choice of 220 sites with spaces for RV hook-ups to electricity (30 amp) and water plus grassy, shaded areas where you can set up a tent and watch the sunrise on the lake. If homey comforts are more to your liking, you might prefer to bed down in one of their cute cabins featuring bunk beds, electricity, and a cooling fan.
Each campsite features a picnic table and fire-grill with gravel pads for RVs and convenient pull-thru access. Wi-Fi is available so you can stay connected with friends back home while a general store provides fishing and camping supplies.
Clean restrooms, showers, and a laundry make this well-established campground a great choice for family getaways - and you won’t have to leave your woofer at home as Atwood Lake Campground welcomes pets. All dogs should be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and be monitored carefully by their owners (who must pick up their pet's waste.) Well-behaved fur-babies can get in on the camping buzz and go for walks with their guardians on the dog-friendly trails close by. The Olin Lake Nature Preserve trail around five miles from the camp takes you and your pooch on an exciting hike through the woods, with pretty views of the lake.
A five-minute drive and you’ve arrived in the town of Wolcottville, where the summer sees a rise in the population as folks come from all over to embrace the camping opportunities that the surrounding lakes offer. There’s plenty to see and do with local eateries and parks, or you could take the kids on a tour of Cooks Bison Ranch where they can feed and interact with the animals.
Back at Lakewood Campground, the happy hosts are likely to be planning new and fun activities, with karaoke contests always a favorite with campers. Their Beach Bumble Bee Paddle Boat hire gets you out on the scenic lake while a covered-in pavilion allows friends or clubs to get together for seasonal events.
Atwood Lake has a friendly atmosphere with campers returning every season for fun days in the sun. RVs can be stored on-site throughout the winter, ready for campers when vacation time begins.
