Bayou Segnette State Park

Right on the bayou just outside of New Orleans is a place where visitors from all over the nation can come and stay. Bayou Segnette State Park is a peaceful retreat close to all the action of the city, but far enough away that you and your pooch will be able to get a true taste of Louisiana's wild lands.

Not only will you have access to a real, live bayou and all of the wonders that brings, but you'll also get plenty of amenities to make your stay here as comfy as possible. There are 99 campsites at the grounds, all of which offer electric hookups (and permit doggos!). One group camp is available, as are multiple cabins, though our furry friends aren't allowed in any of the buildings in the park. WiFi is provided in certain areas of the facility and drinking water is accessible throughout the park.

To enter Bayou Segnette, you'll have to cough up $3 per person in addition to your camping fees. Nightly rates start at $25 for mid-week stays from October until March and jump up to $30 a night in the summer months. Weekend stays are always a bit pricier, coming in at $33 per night.

Being right on the water means catching a boat tour of the incredible wetlands that surround you should be no trouble at all, and the fishing is not bad, either! Tell your woofer to rest assured -- there is a nature trail on-site, though you will have to watch for gators as you're out exploring! The park has its own pool that opens on weekends only to give guests a break from those hot Louisiana summers. And, while the campground's gates close at 9 pm, word on the street is there's a back entrance where all party animals can return after a night on the town!

While here, be sure to keep your barky buddy on-leash and out of buildings. As always, it's important to clean up after your four-legged friend so that canines can keep visiting this park for years to come.
