The Beaver Dam Campground is nestled along the shores of Upper Caney Lake within the Kisatchie National Forest in Minden, Louisiana. There are campsites for RVs, campers, and tents, and there's also a group picnic and camping area that can accommodate up to 200 people and sits on 250 acres of land. The campground is situated among towering trees, hills, and lakes, and recreational activities nearby abound. Dogs are allowed to accompany their owners to Beaver Dam Campground but are required to remain on a leash when they're not in your camper, RV, or tent.
Each of the 29 campsites at Beaver Dam Campground has electric and water hookups, as well as picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Beaver Dam Campground also has dump stations, hot showers, and drinking water. Campers also have access to accessible picnic shelters, a boat ramp, fishing pier, pay phones, and firewood for sale. If you'd like to hike, fish, boat, or spot wildlife, you're in a prime position to do so from Beaver Dam Campground.
Within walking distance from your campsite, there are trailheads where you can hike or mountain bike, and your dog can join you for an adventure. Hunting is permitted within Kisatchie National Forest during several months of the year. Be sure to wear bright orange when you're out and about, and always keep your dog on a leash on hiking trails. You may opt to trek the Sugar Cane Trail, a 6.4-mile loop lined with wildflowers and suitable for any skill level. Other options include the two-mile Lost Man Loop or the 1.7-mile Beach Bottom Loop. If you'd like to fish, the covered fishing pier is an excellent place to catch crappie, catfish, bass, and Sandbass.
Each night, the gates to the campground are locked from 10 PM to 6 AM. Be sure to book more than four days in advance, within six months for a single site, or up to 12 months for the group site at the beautiful Beaver Dam Campground.
