If your idea of the perfect family vacation involves swimming, camping, and fishing, not to mention bringing the dog along for the ride, then you'll feel right at home in Big Foot Beach State Park. Located on the shore of Geneva Lake, this 271-acre park offers pet-friendly camping, a laid-back atmosphere, and the chance to enjoy water sports and other outdoor activities.
As you'd expect, the lake takes center stage for much of the fun that takes place in this beautiful park. Famous for its clear, clean water, Lake Geneva has a 100-foot marked swimming area when you're looking for a spot to cool off. However, be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty.
Excellent canoeing and kayaking are on offer in Ceylon Lagoon and Lake Geneva, with rentals available in season. However, there's no boat launch in the park, so you'll need to make the short trip south to downtown Lake Geneva or Linn Township to put your boat in the water. And if you love fishing, there's an accessible fishing pier jutting out into Ceylon Lagoon.
But that's not all there is to see and do in Big Foot Beach State Park. You can:
When you're ready to set up camp, the campground boasts 94 sites, some with and some without electricity. An $8 vehicle entrance fee applies for cars with Wisconsin plates, but this increases to $11 for out-of-state visitors.
Best of all, pets are welcome in the campground as long as you follow a few simple rules. Stick to the areas where dogs are allowed, keep your pet leashed, and clean up after them whenever necessary. With these responsibilities taken care of, the only thing left to do is get out and explore the best Big Foot Beach State Park has to offer!
