Journey to New Mexico with your canine compadre and see the beauties of Bluewater Lake for yourself! Located in the Bluewater Lake State Park, this lake is surrounded by rolling hills of juniper and pinyon. Plus, you can enjoy the views of the nearby mountains when you stay in this park!
All kinds of camping are accommodated at Bluewater Lake. For the true outdoorsy person, why not set up camp at one of the primitive sites located right on the lake? If you are more into flushing toilets than squatting in the junipers, there are 149 campsites situated near amenities to keep you comfortable during your stay. Fourteen of these sites offer electricity as well. There is drinking water as well as a dump station in the main camping area, making it that much easier for you to come and have fun at this park. Kids will be happy to know that there is a playground on-site, and parents will be relieved to hear there is a boat ramp so getting out on the water doesn't have to be an ordeal.
The lake is the main spot for daily activities at this park. It's heralded for its excellent fishing opportunities -- including Tiger Muskie fishing! Boats of all sorts are welcome on the lake, including motorboats, sailboats, canoes, and kayaks. Give waterskiing a try, or hang on for dear life on a tube behind a boat. Lots of fun can be had on the beach around the water, too! Campers enjoy hiking on the trails throughout the park, which offer great wildlife-watching and birding.
The park allows four-legged campers, but they do ask that you keep your pup on their best behavior throughout your stay. Do not leave Fido alone in a camper or at your site at any time, and keep them on a leash of no longer than 10 feet. It's also important to keep poop bags with you so that you can clean up any and all surprises that your doggo leaves behind!
If days on the lake are what you seek, Bluewater Lake campground is where you and your pup should head to next!
