In the incredible Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest sits Canyon Point, a campground comprised of 113 campsites for any people (and pups!) who wish to explore this amazing part of Arizona. The area is famous for its excellent hiking trails along with its close distance to Willow Springs Lake, a haven for those who love aquatic activities.
The grounds can accommodate all tents, trailers, and RVs up to 75 feet in length, but only 32 sites offer electricity. You may want to call ahead to reserve an electric site if you're depending on this service to make your stay complete. Each site comes with a campfire ring and picnic table, so mealtimes are never too much fuss. There is also drinking water and firewood on-site, saving you the trouble of hauling along your own. You'll also find a dumping site on the grounds, so there is never any reason to leave garbage around. The town of Forest Lakes is only a few minutes down the road, meaning you'll be able to restock your supplies throughout your visit.
Visitors to the grounds have lots to explore in the amazing natural area that surrounds them. Hike up to Mogollon Rim to catch stunning views from 2,000 feet, or spend the day biking, rock climbing, or bird watching. You can also choose to hike back at night to see the stars from this spectacular vantage point. If a lazy day on the lake is what you seek, Willow Springs Lake has you covered, with excellent boating and fishing opportunities on offer.
Your pup is allowed to come and explore this outdoor wonderland with you, but please keep them on a standard leash at all times. It is also important to bring poop bags along so you can stoop and scoop whenever needed. It should be noted that the summer can bring with it some wild weather, so if you are the owner of a doggo that isn't fond of storms, you may want to plan your visit at a different time of year.
