Description

Nestled among juniper and pinyon pine in a pretty location overlooking Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Cedar Springs Campground offers easy access to a host of recreational opportunities. Part of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in the Ashley National Forest, this campground is well worth considering if you're planning a pet-friendly camping getaway in Utah's northeast.

Boating, water skiing, swimming and scuba diving are all popular activities on the reservoir, and Cedar Springs Marina is found less than a mile from the campground. The area is also known for its excellent trout fishing, with lake, brown, and even rainbow trout all in abundance.

If you want to do some exploring on land, the three-mile Bear Canyon Trail begins near the campground and offers spectacular views of both Flaming Gorge and Red Canyon. Guided tours of the hydroelectric plant at Flaming Gorge Dam are also available.

If you're planning on staying a while, this small campground features single and double-family sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Drinking water, vault toilets, and a dump station are all provided. Please note that there's only limited shade available in the campground, and that campsite prices start from $25 a night.

If you're planning on camping with your canine companion, please make sure that your pet is kept leashed and under control at all times. You'll also need to show courtesy to other park users and clean up after your dog whenever required.

A few other points worth noting:

  • This area is notorious for strong winds and sudden thunderstorms
  • Drinking water is available from mid/late-May until mid-September
  • If you can provide proof of camping registration, you can access showers at Deer Run and Mustang Ridge

Cedar Springs Campground offers a rustic camping experience for anyone who wants to escape the rest of the world, take in some beautiful scenery, and spend some quality time with their dog. Check it out if you ever get the chance.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
