Sitting at the edge of the Hyalite Reservoir and tucked among the lush trees of the Gallatin National Forest is Chisholm Campground. This hidden gem is situated a short drive south of Bozeman, Montana, within the Bozeman Ranger District, and is the perfect outdoor getaway for you and your hyper hound. If hiking amongst waterfalls, canoeing the magnificent Hyalite Lake, or admiring boundless nature sound appealing, then look no further. Enjoy sunbathing while your canine companion dips their paws in the lake, or take your four-pawed friend on a 7.5-mile hiking adventure along the Hyalite Peak Trail.
The campground consists of 10 incredibly scenic sites offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and pristine evergreen forests. Speaking of pristine, make sure to clean up after your fur-ball during your stay at the campground and on the hikes. Remember to keep your buddy leashed as well, especially considering there is ample wildlife in the area. Since there are no dog waste bags provided at the campground, make sure to bring plenty with you. Patrons will find vault toilets on-site as well as drinking water. The campground is also equipped with picnic tables and fire pits, with firewood available for $6 per bundle. Sites start at just $20 per night.
One of the biggest reasons this lakeside retreat is so pawpular is the nature-filled scenery, so make sure to pack your camera. Be prepared for plenty of photo opportunities with the skies, mountains, and forests reflected in the crystal clear waters. Located far away from the bright city lights, the surrounding areas offer perfect opportunities for stargazing for amateur astronomers. A boat launch is available just a mile away from the campground, and Grotto Falls is also nearby for when you want to venture outside of camp.
Although there are some first-come, first-served sites available here, due to the limited amount of sites and popularity of Chisholm Campground, we advise booking your site in advance!
