What could be better than camping on the edge of a placid lake with trees and green rolling hills?
This is the magical setting of Christopher Run Campground on Lake Anna where boating, swimming, and having water fun is the main attraction. It’s also a great place to camp out in the woods or bring your RV and get hooked up to water and electricity (30/50 amp). It’s simple camping with no WIFI and sloping, dirt/gravel covered sites with not a lot of space in-between
The camp hosts are known to be friendly and helpful with 212 campsites where you can put up a tent, park the RV or get cozy in a choice of nine rustic cabins and two fully-equipped lodges. Restrooms, showers, and the laundry area are fairly well- maintained with a camp store for basic supplies. The lake area features a sandy beach with grassy sitting areas and established trees for shade.Â
The family dog is in for a treat as they are welcome at Christopher Run Campground but they need to stay on a leash less than six feet. The rules state they must be well behaved and pose no problem to other campers. Temperatures can soar in the Virginia summer so make sure your pet-pal is hydrated and not in the sun too long. You’ll also be responsible for picking up their waste, so pack the litter bags before you leave home
Throughout the season there are plenty of camp activities including mini-golf, karaoke parties, and an awesome playground for the kids. A large, air-conditioned pavilion sets the scene for groups and club get-togethers while access to the lake is easy with a marina, boat ramps, and piers for fishing. Most sites feature a picnic table and fire-ring for cooking the catch of the day. This family-owned, casual campground lets you hire boats and store your RV till next summer.
The historic mining town of Mineral is a six-mile drive where visitors can explore the area or travel further to Louisa County where the Farmer's Markets are popular with scenic walking trails and heritage homes.
