Description

Found on the shores of the Marion Reservoir, Cottonwood Point Campground offers several ways to beat the summer heat, including swimming and boating. The surrounding forests also offer a few opportunities for hiking and dog walking.

Overnight guests of Cottonwood Point can enjoy the 169 total sites that pepper the expansive landscape. 164 of the sites here are for single families or individuals, offering shady areas in addition to campfire rings and picnic tables. All of these individual sites come with an electrical pedestal offering either a 30 amp or 50 amp connection. Depending on location, single sites can cost anywhere from the base rates listed here to $23 per evening.

Two group campsites are also available for advanced rental at $100 per evening and feature the same amenities as the single sites. Sewage and dump station services are available here for RVs, and centrally located showers and restrooms are free for all guests to use. If you've taken Fido along for your overnight stay, make sure they're spending the evening in your tent or RV while also keeping them clear of the bathroom facilities on-site.

Guests with boats would be wise to try and reserve spots between campsites #62 and #67, as these are located directly next to Cottonwood Point's complimentary boat launch. Visitors are free to bring motorized vessels, in addition to their canoes or kayaks. Any boats hitting the waters at Marion Reservoir need to have up-to-date registration visible before they do so, per state regulations. If you've decided to bring your dog along for your boating expedition, make sure they're on a restraint during their ride. Guests are asked to keep their pets clear of any indoor structures, as well as clear of the concrete boat ramps.

Public swimming and fishing are also offered on the reservoir for overnight guests. Swimming is unsupervised, so make sure to keep an eye on little ones if they've come along. Canines are to be kept out of the waters at all times.

All visitors should keep in mind that any costs outlined in this article relate to Cottonwood Point only, and do not reflect costs for surrounding attractions.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
