Deer Mountain Campground in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, is located in the Connecticut Lakes State Forest, which is adjacent to the Connecticut River. It is very near the Canadian border, which makes it a great camping area for people in both the United States and Canada. It is located in what is referred to as Moose Alley, which is a great area for moose viewing as well as deer viewing. Deer Mountain Campground is also a great area for birdwatching.
Dogs are allowed in the park, but they are not allowed in the cabins. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Owners are required to pick up after their dogs, and all other trash is meant to be carried out of the park as well.
Guests love that Deer Mountain Campground allows for tent camping and RV camping. There are also cabins on the premises that guests can rent out. However, dogs are not allowed to stay in the cabins due to allergy reasons. Keep that in mind if you are wanting to bring your dog with you on your camping trip.
All campsites have a fireplace, picnic table, tent area, and a parking space for convenience. There is also a restroom on site.
The main season for the campground is Memorial Day to Columbus Day, but the campgrounds are open year-round on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are recommended but not required even in peak season, but it can be hard to find a camping site without one.
Many guests enjoy boating and fishing on the Connecticut River, which is near the campgrounds. In fact, there are even a few camping sites that are on the river. There are also hiking and walking trails in the area. The Moose Falls Flowage trail is a great option for those who want to walk their dog.
