A 469-acre park in Detroit, Oregon, Detroit Lake State Recreation Area is a haven for boating and camping enthusiasts. Detroit Lake is a forest-ringed canyon reservoir in the Cascade Mountains. Stretching for nine miles, it offers excellent fishing, boating, swimming, and other water sports. The park features two courtesy boat ramps and two reservable boat moors for those who want to get out on the water, as well as a fishing dock for those who want to cast a line from land. Five designated swimming areas are provided if you need to cool off during the summer months, while a scenic 2.7-mile hiking trail runs around the perimeter of the campground. Horseshoe pits, a basketball court, a volleyball area, and a playground are also provided to keep campers of all ages entertained.
The campground features 107 full hookup sites, 68 electrical sites with water, and 96 tent sites with water nearby. A $5 daily parking fee applies, while camping fees vary depending on the type of site you select. For example, while tent sites are $19 a night, a full hookup site will cost you $31 a night.
If you're visiting with your pet, make sure your dog is leashed and under control at all times. You'll also need to remember to respect other park visitors and clean up after your furry friend whenever required.
