Sleep between the water and sheer cliffs at Echo Park Campground. The group site has space for nine to 25 people. Share a unique camping experience with your pals in the Dinosaur National Monument. There are vault toilets, grills, fire rings, picnic tables, and potable water here. You'll need reservations if you plan on coming between Memorial and Labor Day. During the off-season, this facility is available on a first-come, first-served basis as long as the roads are open.
Enjoy the rugged scenery of this area when you wake up each morning to the burbling sounds of the Green River and see the sun rising over Steamboat Rock. The campground is in a clearing with prairie grasses and limited shade. A few of the tent sites are under some trees. There are primitive hiking trails along the water's edge. Follow the footpath to the east past Jenny Lind Rock on the way to Sand Canyon. Another option is to take the entry road back through Pat's Draw and walk between the high cliff walls. Stop in Whispering Cave along the way. Fish for trout, bass, and other species from the shoreline.
You can share your camping experience with Fido, but there are rules and restrictions for your pup. Keep them on-leash and under your supervision. They can walk with you within 100 feet of the facility and roads. Scoop their poop and dispose of it in one of the garbage cans here.
It's a rough ride to the facility, and RVs or trailers may not be able to manage the sharp turns and steep grades. Your best bet is to bring a high-clearance vehicle and sleep in a tent. Be prepared for hot, arid summer days and cool nights. You'll need to pack in all supplies and pack out your waste when you stay here. Store your food in approved containers to avoid attracting bears.
