Description
Ridgway State Park is a beautiful campground overlooking the reservoir, just 15 miles from picturesque mountain town Ouray. Located in the San Juan mountains, Ridgway State Park allows leashed dogs with no additional fee. The campground itself is set above a beautiful reservoir, providing visitors with plenty of opportunities for boating, kayaking, fishing, and taking in the views from shore. There are 258 campsites for RVs, trailers, campers, and motorhomes, and 25 walk-in tent sites for those looking for a more primitive experience. There are also several yurts available for rental.

The majority of campsites are shaded and offer breathtaking views of the mountains. The spacious state park is a favorite amongst locals and out-of-state visitors alike, as it is close to many quintessential mountain towns in the San Juans, including Ouray, Ridgway, and Telluride.

For tent campers, the campground provides carts, making the walk into your site much easier! Many campsites are not only surrounding by large trees, but boulders, shrubs, and shade trees, too. Choose between sites that overlook the reservoir, or those located on the far side of the Uncompahgre River.

In addition to the reservoir itself, there are two ponds where people can fish. While Fido may not be allowed in the ponds, they will certainly have a full day of romping around the campground and chasing birds, chipmunks, and squirrels! This area has tons of excellent hiking trails and easy access to some of Colorado's most stunning geography. Whether you are just passing through or looking for a mountain experience on one of the state's beautiful reservoirs, you and your furry friend won't be disappointed with all Ridgway State Park has to offer.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
