Fishing Creek Campground is a pawesome place for you and your buddy to stay during your Lake Cumberland outdoor getaway! The campground comes with almost all of the creature comforts a pup and their person could ask for -- you’ll have access to showers, laundry facilities, and electricity and water hookups (though sewer hookups aren’t available).
The scenery isn’t bad, either! Fishing Creek is a rather developed campground, but sites are still well-shaded by gorgeous hardwoods, and the campground's high vantage point makes for lovely views of the creek itself. Fishing Creek also offers several ways to stay -- as well as the standard electric sites, tent-only, non-electric campsites are available for those looking for a more rustic experience (or to save a few bucks). There’s no entrance fee to Fishing Creek Recreation area, and sites start at $20.
Not only is the campground in a seriously pretty spot, but it’s also close to plenty of op-paw-tunities for outdoor recreation! Keen anglers will be glad to know that Fishing Creek is aptly named, but those looking for a serious catch might want to head to Lake Cumberland itself, just a bone’s throw away from camp. The lake is something of a place of pilgrimage for those who love to cast a line, as it’s home to a not insignificant population of bass, crappie, and catfish. Non-furry family members might well appreciate the swim beach and playground. The surrounding area doesn’t offer much for hound-dog hikers, but cultured canines might get a kick out of a visit to nearby Mill Springs Battlefield Park. Your fur-ball won’t be allowed in any of the museums, of course, but they’re still free to wander around the Civil War battlefield itself.
WiFi isn’t available at Fishing Creek, but most cellular networks should receive at least some coverage. Don't forget to bring waste bags for your pupper, and you'll be good to go for a furrific adventure at Fishing Creek Campground!
