Description

Not too far from the city of New Orleans sits a natural hideout nestled among the incredible wetlands of Louisiana. Named after another scenic section of the outdoors over in Europe, Fontainebleau State Park is a haven for all types of wildlife, plants -- and campers with their puppers!Ā

You're sure to find accommodations that fit your needs here, as this spot offers all manner of campsites (with and without hookup options), lodge rooms, and even cabins on stilts! Keep in mind that your furry pal won't be allowed inside any of the buildings on the property. The restrooms and showers are kept clean, and a dump station is accessible on-site. Near the water, guests are also provided with change rooms and large pavilions for some relief from thatĀ hot, Louisiana sunshine.

EntranceĀ fees to the park are only $3, and like most of the state's parks, seniors and kids get in for free! Overnight camping rates begin at $18 for a basic site during the cooler months and jump all the way up to $33 for a full-hookup lot in the summertime.Ā

When you're not exploring New Orleans, you'll have tons to see right inside the park! Lake Pontchartrain has all the space you need for fun on the waves and makes for a great place to sail. The beach is usually full when the weather is nice, but the area stays well-maintained throughout the busy season. Take to the park's nature trail with your woofer to see all of the amazing creatures that call Fontainebleau home -- though you may have to watch out for gators!

Doggos are welcome throughout the park and may even be allowed off-leash; however, we recommend you bring a leash along and always keep your furry pal close to your side and out of other people's campsites. As always, be a good pet parent and clean up after your barky buddy during your stay.

To experience the natural side of New Orleans, be sure to check out Fontainebleau State Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
