Description

Fort Pickens Campground is a public campground located on Santa Rosa Island, south of Pensacola Beach, Florida. It is highly rated and offers over 200 campsites for tent and RV camping. The campground is open to big rigs and can accommodate RVs up to 50 feet. A group campsite is available as well, but it is tent-only and has to be reserved in advance.

The campground is surrounded by large oak trees, with white sand beaches nearby. It caters to both those who want to camp in lush nature and hike the sand dunes and those who want to relax on the shore with their toes in the sand, listening to the waves crashing and admiring the scenic views. A fishing pier is easily accessible from the campground too, just a few minutes' walk from the picnic pavilions, making fishing a breeze. Boat enthusiasts must keep in mind that though fishing is allowed and does not require a fishing license, there is no boat ramp at Fort Pickens. There are grocery stores and restaurants just a few miles away from the campground, as well as must-visit historic sites, such as the Pensacola Naval Air Station, Aviation museum and lighthouse.

The campground is equipped with grills, fire rings, picnic tables, and water. There are dump stations and public restrooms with flushing toilets on-site, which are said to be clean and well-maintained most of the time. Dogs are welcome to enjoy campground but should remain supervised at all times. Please make sure to keep your pooch well-behaved and cleaned up after.

RV sites start at $40 per night and include picnic tables, water and electricity hookups, and fire rings and grills. Tent sites start at $26 per night and are equipped with grills, fire rings and picnic tables only. However, there are water stations nearby that patrons can enjoy freely. The group site has a common fire ring, several picnic tables, two grills, restrooms and an outdoor shower with cold running water. Depending on the number of campers, the group site costs $20 to $30 per night.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
