Fourmile Lake Campground is a secluded tent and RV campground located under 35 miles from Klamath Falls, Oregon. The hidden gem sits at the foothills of Mount McLoughlin by the shores of the 740-acre Fourmile Lake, surrounded by a dense forest. It is a fisherman’s paradise and the go-to campground in the Sky Lakes Wilderness for primitive camping enthusiasts. Whether you are camping alone, with your four-legged family member, or all the members of your family, you will have an un-fur-gettable outdoor adventure at Fourmile Lake!
The Fourmile Lake Campground consists of 29 campsites, including 20 single sites and nine double sites that are equestrian-friendly. There are also two sites that are ADA-accessible. Sites operate on a first-come-first-served basis, and each comes with an RV parking spot, picnic table, and fire ring. The rustic campground features two vault toilets, two water pumps, a boat ramp, and horse corrals. The day use fee is $5; campsites are $18 per night for single sites and $36 for doubles or equestrian sites. There is a host on-site who keeps the campground pristine and is also great at providing directions and suggestions for local trails to hike.Â
The campground’s location enables easy access to the 113,400-acre Sky Lake Wilderness, the 12-mile Fourmile Lake Trail that loops around Fourmile Lake, and the popular Badger Lake Trail that, as the name suggests, leads to the Badger and Long lakes. All three locations are great for scenery and exercise. If you and your furry fitness buddy want a challenge, check out the steeper Blue Canyon Loop that runs across rocky terrain for 15.5 miles. For casual hikers (or senior dogs) the 5-mile Twin Ponds Trail runs through flat forested terrain and by three different lakes with lots of fun sniffing spots along the way!
Since the campground is located by a lake and in a wooded area, please make sure to pack bug repellent as there is a significant amount of mosquitoes. Lastly, whether you are out on the trails or at the campground, please clean up after your pooch.Â
