Located within the Sonoran Desert, Frazier Group Campground offers breath-taking views of the Roosevelt Lake and the desert scenery. Many nearby trails make this camping ground popular among hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders and as such, this all-year campground is primarily focused on equestrian camping.Â
It offers 11 campsites, as well as a large area for group camping that can host up to 100 people and up to 50 RV vehicles. All campsites are big enough to accommodate the biggest rigs and horse trailers. Just note that those interested in horse camping will have to call ahead and make reservations. There is no natural shade, but each campsite, including the group area, has ramadas and comes equipped with grills, fire rings, and picnic tables. The campsites don’t have hook-ups available, but campsite amenities include toilets and water spigots.
The many nearby trails include the Arizona Trail, that you can reach via the Cottonwood Canyon Trail that connects to it. Hiking trails are available too and can be accessed from the campground, as well as other attractions including the scenic roads, most notably the Apache Trail Historic Road and Desert to Tall Pines Scenic Road.
With the lake being so near, it is also a popular spot for boating, kayaking, and fishing, but there is no boat ramp on the camping grounds, the closest one being on the Marina located on the Roosevelt Lake. The lake is brimming with crappie, catfish, bass, and sunfish.
Although primarily an equestrian site, Frazier Group Campground is also a pet-friendly campground, so you can bring your dog with you. You will have to keep them on their best behavior to not disturb other campers and animals, and they will need to be leashed when outside of the vehicle. Don't forget to clean up after your dog and leave your site as you found it. Â
