Description

Goose Lake State Recreation Area is a beautiful campground on the California-Oregon border. As its name suggests, the campground sits on Goose Lake, which sometimes gets water in the spring, but is dry of the rest the year. Goose Lake offers 48 campsites, and 42 of these sites have water and electrical hookups. The daily rates for this pawesome campground are $17 for non-electric tent sites and $24 for campsites with electrical hookups.

While you’re at Goose Lake, you’ll find lots of fun things to do with your pup. The campground has an off-leash area where your dog can run and play to their heart’s content. You can also take your dog for an on-leash walk on the Pine Creek Trail, which goes in a loop around the campground. This trail takes you along New Pine Creek, which is home to many different species of water birds.

Goose Lake State Recreation Area also has a scenic wildlife viewing area where you may get to see the herd of mule deer that live near the campground! You might also get to see the lovely birds that live in the campground, including quails and western tanagers. Plus, the campground also has interpretive signs that discuss the historic Applegate Trail. This trail once ran by Goose Lake, and it was used by pioneers moving to Oregon in the mid-19th century.

After you’ve finished your adventures for the day, you and your pup can enjoy the amenities at your campsite. Each campsite with comes with a campfire ring, and firewood is available at the campground. You and your pup will both have a great time relaxing by your fire and gazing at the stars up above.
