If you're looking for a peaceful hideout to spend your vacation days at, it's hard to beat Gordonia-Altamaha State Park in southeast Georgia! This relaxed recreation area has all the features your family (pup included) needs to unwind and reconnect with nature. Oh -- and did we mention the park also has its own golf course and pro shop?
Now that we've got you interested, let's talk specs. The campground here holds 29 campsites and 8 cottages, making it quaint, but it's not shy on amenities. Most of the campsites offer electric hookups, with many also providing water hookups as well. Drinking water is provided, as is a dump station for RVs and trailers. If cottaging is more your thing, you'll be happy to hear that one of the buildings is pooch-friendly, so bring Fido along for the fun! On the property, you'll also have access to a laundry room as well as a gift shop to handle whatever needs you may have.
To enter the park, a daily parking permit is needed, which costs $5. Annual passes are also available if you're planning on coming back a time or two throughout the year. Nightly rates to camp start at $22 for a basic site for tents only and go up to $32 for a full hookup lot during peak season.
When you're not out on the course, you may find yourself out on the lake instead, as there is a small body of water not far from the campsites. Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and small boats with electric motors are allowed out on the waves, meaning you'll have ample time to cast out a line or two. Kids will be thrilled with the large playground at the park, and there is no better way to beat the heat than at the splash pad!
As with most Georgia parks, your doggo is asked to stay on their leash throughout their visit. As long as you follow posted signs about where canines should and shouldn't be, you and your furry pal will have an excellent time.
For the perfect little slice of heaven, be sure to check out Gordonia-Altamaha State Park!
