Granite Flat is located up American Fork Canyon in Utah. The campground includes 44 single campsites and 8 double sites. The peak time is from May through September. There isn’t anything official listed about dogs, unfortunately.  So, if you do take your dog, it’s always good to have their leash, just in case.
The campground is located next to Tibble Fork Reservoir as well as Silver Flat Reservoir and is surrounded by large, beautiful trees. Tibble Fork Reservoir allows visitors to use non-motorized boats and permits scuba diving! You can also take a trip to Timpanogos Cave or take a drive down the nearby Alpine Loop, which is especially gorgeous when all of the leaves change colors in the fall. However, it is important to note that vehicles over 30 feet should not attempt to drive the Alpine Loop.
This campground offers restrooms, a picnic area, and drinking water. However, if you’re in an RV, unfortunately, there are no water, electrical, or sewer hookups at this location. So, it’s important to fill up with water ahead of time since there is no place to do it at the campground. There are, however, fun amenities such as horseshoe pits, grills, and even a baseball field. Please keep in mind that there are bears in this area. So, keep your site clean and store your food properly to avoid a scary encounter.
There isn’t much posted about dogs and the rules for dogs at this campsite. However, it’s always important to make sure your pup will have everything they need when you take them on a trip. Be sure to bring their food, leash, treats, bedding, toys, and poop bags. It’s crucial to always clean up after your dog. People are going camping to be one with nature, not your doggo’s poop. So, keep it clean!
Next time you’re in beautiful Utah in the summer, consider taking a camping trip at Granite Flat.
