Description

Want to enjoy a camping getaway with your furry friend that lets you sample the best of life in Kentucky's great outdoors? Grayson Lake State Park might just be the pawfect destination.

Situated in Carter and Elliott counties near the city of Grayson, this 1,512-acre park offers a host of recreational activities and attractions for campers of all ages. A launching ramp within the park provides easy access to the lake's waters, while a marina with rental boats is also located just three miles from the park. The shoreline of Grayson Lake varies from gentle grassy slopes to steep sandstone canyons, so there's plenty of scenery for boaters to explore. Anyone who loves fishing is also well catered for, with largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish all in abundance.

When you're not out on the water, you might like to explore one of the park's hiking trails. The 0.8-mile Beech-Hemlock Forest Trail is a nature lover's delight, while the three-mile Lick Falls Trail provides a longer adventure.

Other park features include Hidden Cove Golf Course, shaded picnic spots, and several species of ferns and flowering rhododendrons.

The spacious campground in Grayson Lake State Park features 71 pet-friendly campsites and is open from April until the end of October. Utility hookups, a dump station, restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are all provided. Daily rates start at $25.

If you're staying with your pet, make sure your pooch is on a leash and attended at all times. As always, spare a thought for other park users and remember to always clean up after your dog whenever required.

If you can take care of these simple tasks, there's nothing to stop you and your pooch enjoying a furrific camping getaway. Grayson Lake State Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, so why not check out what it has to offer with your canine companion?
