Florida RVers often choose Tampa as their destination, but the big city is not very friendly to those looking for peace and quiet and room for their four-legged family members to roam. Right outside of Tampa, however, is the smaller city of Thonotosassa, where the pawfect place for those 55 and uppers to park their RV at the Happy Traveler RV Park can be found.
Situated right off of I-75, this park is less than 5 miles from the big theme park Busch Gardens, and conveniently located to shops and restaurants. But before you venture out of the RV area, take some time to check out the amenities this place has to offer, and you might just find more to do than you and Fido can shake a stick at!
There are full hookups on every site and sunny and shady options. Guests note that RV sites are a little small, so keep that in mind if you have a big rig. If you have guests or want to stay in a cabin, those are available also. Restroom and shower facilities are clean and maintained, and laundry facilities are available throughout the park for a small fee.
You can keep busy with indoor activities in the recreation center, and special events are planned from November through March. Stay in shape with outdoor entertainment like the heated pool, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, and ping pong tables.
All of these amenities are available at a basic rate of $34 plus tax and electric for a standard site in the off-season. Rates will vary depending on the length of your stay, your site requests, and the time of year you visit. These rates are also for two people, with an extra guest fee of $2.50 plus tax per night.
Happy Traveler RV Park is pet-friendly, and multiple pet walking areas are offered throughout the campground. However, there is a limit of no more than two pets per site, and they must be leashed at all times. Just be sure to clean up after any messes!
